Earthworks discipline at Mwerasandu: moving ground without losing the levels
20 January 2026 · 1 min read · SANS LIMITE Site Team, Supervision & geotechnics
SANS LIMITE supervised bulk earthworks and platform formation for the Mwerasandu tin-mine works, cut-to-fill balancing, haul-road formation and drainage over sloping mineral ground.
The engineering risk in earthworks is rarely the digging; it is losing the levels. A platform that drifts 150 mm out of tolerance quietly re-prices every foundation, plinth and drainage invert built on top of it. Survey control (re-established at every lift) is the cheapest insurance on the job.
Compaction testing, moisture-content logging and a running earthworks record turned a fast, muddy operation into an auditable one. The platform is the deliverable; the levels are the contract.
