Reading the land first: ESIA before the Nkwanzi eco-resort

15 November 2025 · 1 min read · SANS LIMITE ESIA Unit, Environmental & social studies

For the Nkwanzi eco-farm resort, SANS LIMITE prepared the Environmental & Social Impact Assessment alongside concept design for hospitality and farm buildings on ecologically sensitive ground.

An ESIA is most valuable when it runs ahead of the masterplan. Slope stability, water sources, vegetation to retain and the community's access routes are constraints that should shape the footprint, not boxes ticked after the villas are already located.

Letting the study lead gave the client a design that sits lightly on the land and clears its environmental approvals without redesign. Reading the landscape is not a compliance step here; it is the first design move.
